Monaco is actively involved in environmental preservation and in efforts in relation to Climate Change, as a signatory to the Paris Agreement. In order to curb carbon emissions, Monaco has already engaged in a number of local and practical initiatives such as providing free electric vehicle recharging stations, electric-powered transportation and recycling waste water. The conference center at Grimaldi Forum uses hydropower for its electric system. Monaco is preparing as a long-term goal to further reduce emissions to phase out fossil energy in particular for hotels and private homes.
