Monaco New Environmental Goal: Reducing the Level of Greenhouse Gas Emissions

By janvier 12, 2021Monaco News

During the Climate Ambition Summit 2020, H.S.H the Prince Albert II of Monaco announced Monaco’s new goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 55% in 2030. This summit, held on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the Paris Climat Agreement (“Accord de Paris sur le Climat”),  was the opportunity for H.S.H the Prince of Monaco to reaffirm the strong engagement of the Principality in favour of sustainable development and environment protection.

In this context, a Sovereign Ordinance dated 24 December 2020 was published. This Ordinance inserts in the Monaco Environmental Code a new article providing that Monaco is commited to reduce greenhouse gas emissions on its territory by 55% in 2030 compared to 1990 emissions and to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

This announcement is most welcome at DL Corporate & Regulatory as we are very keen on the reduction of our carbon footprint.
